Hi,
I’m not very schooled in all things DNA and I have a 2nd cousin who I matched up on X DNA Centimorgans (cM) at 51.1. We are both girls who are related through our fathers who were 1st cousins. My Grandfather & her Grandmother were thought to be full siblings. Question is; does the 51.1 sound right to verify that our Grandparents were more likely full siblings or not? Any help would be appreciated.

You cannot get X from your father’s father (paternal grandfather) as your Dad got all his X from his mother. So your X match with your 2nd cousin may come from elsewhere.
Look at the total centimorgans (cMs) you share with her to see if they fit 2nd cousins – see isogg.org/wiki/Autosomal_DNA_statistics and the chart down lower on the page. Expected amount is 238 but can be anything from 43-504 as it can vary.
If this is a question you want to resolve and the centimorgans are low enough to suspect a half relationship, you may have to test more family members to figure it out. If you can test a few descendants of your presumed common great grandfather, preferable in an older generation, and they are only matching one of you then your grandparents are likely half siblings.
Thank you for your reply, and yes our Autosomal DNA Stat is 378.3. In our generation there are only 4 Great Granddaughters left.
